The ServSafe® Food Handler Program is a cost effective solution that delivers consistent food safety training to the foodservice hourly employees in both Spanish and English. 

This program can be presented in group settings with one of our ServSafe® Certified Food Safety Training instructors or by your restaurant group’s CFPM to one or more employees. 

This complete food safety education program takes approximately 2-2 ½ hours to present. For group classes, the Food Training Group includes PowerPoint slides to support the Spanish or English presentation in the client’s location. 

The ServSafe® Food Handler Program covers five key areas:
  • Food Safety Is Important
  • Good Personal Hygiene
  • Controlling Time and Temperature  
  • Preventing Cross-Contamination and Allergen Cross-Contact
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing

The ServSafe® Food Handler Guide, 6th ed. ($6.50 each) is used in the class.  The content of this guide is based on the 2013 FDA Model Code; it matches the information taught in the current ServSafe®  Food Protection Manager program, but at a level more easily understood by employees in your operation.  See a sample chapter using the link below 
 
There is a 30-40 minute exam that assesses an employee’s understanding of the textbook’s material that can be used at the conclusion of the training.  Each Food Handler Guide has the exam and a Certificate of Achievement that is issued to employees who successfully receives a 70% or better score on the exam.

For clients who wish to conduct their own employee training using the ServSafe® Food Handler Guide - textbooks, an answer sheet template, and exam answers are available from The Food Training Group.
