  • About Us
Online ServSafe exams require that the candidate have her/his own laptop computer in working order and proof of the online ServSafe course or prior class room completion. You must also purchase the online ServSafe Manager exam code at servsafe.com prior to meeting with your Proctor. The location of the exam event must have consistent WIFI/internet service to complete the testing within the two hour allotted time frame. At the completion of the exam your Proctor can access your score within a few minutes.  For this option you pay the Proctor's fee ($99.00)plus mileage (at current IRS rate) to the location you choose.

Paper-based ServSafe exams are low-tech - you only need a No. 2 pencil and a quiet place. To use this option you must pre-arrange to take the exam, have proof of class or course completion, then purchase the ServSafe Exam answer sheet from the Proctor prior to the selected exam date.  For this option you pay the Proctor's fee plus mileage (at current IRS rate) to the location you choose, and a $40.00 fee for the ServSafe answer sheet.

You are welcome to take the paper-based ServSafe exam at one of our scheduled ServSafe Manager Class/Exam sessions - you can register at this website at the rate of $100 for an answer sheet and proctoring combined.  If you plan to come to a class and take the online exam, contact the class instructor prior to the class (s/he must secure the Proctor's online Exam Code), purchase your ServSafe exam online code, and on the day of the class/exam pay the class instructor $50.00 proctoring fee by check or cash.

Other Frequently Asked Questions.....

What is a
 ServSafe proctored exam?
A proctored exam is one that is overseen by an approved, impartial individual (a proctor) who monitors the test taker during both the online and paper ServSafe exam. The proctor ensures the security and integrity of the exam process.  All ServSafe exams are proctored by registered, certified, and ServSafe-approved Proctors.

What does the ServSafe proctor do?
The certified ServSafe Proctor is a liaison between the NRA Solutions-ServSafe offices and its students to ensure that testing is done under secure conditions the meet the requirements of ANSI and the Conference for Food Protection.

What are the ServSafe proctor responsibilities?
  • The selected ServSafe Proctor discusses the date for the online or paper exam with the exam candidate and determines if the exam will be online or paper-based.
  • The ServSafe Proctor secures either the online ServSafe exam code or requests a paper exam(s) to be sent for the specific date the exam candidate chooses to complete the ServSafe Manager Certification exam.
  • Before the exam the Proctor ensures the identity of the test-taker by requiring a government-issued photo ID with signature such as a valid State-issued driver's license, Student or Work Photo ID Card, or other official photo ID card.  Exam candidates who cannot provide a satisfactory ID are not allowed to complete the exam.
  • The Proctor must maintain proximity with and monitor the exam candidate during the entire test-taking period to ensure there are no unauthorized aides used at any time during the exam.
  • The Proctor ensures all necessary technologies are available and working for the online exam only. Hardware or internet issues are the responsibility of the exam-taker.
  • For paper-based exams, the proctor will obtain all exam materials and have them ready for the specified date.  All exam materials will be secured prior to and after the exam (the student may have access to the exam only during the time period allowed).
  • The Proctor follows all administration requirements for the exam. These include the two hour time limit, undisturbed testing area, and the exclusion of books, calculators, notes, etc.
  • For paper-based exams, the proctor returns testing materials directly to the ServSafe offices for scoring.  Exam scores are available to the exam candidate in 5 to 7 business days at the servsafe.com website.
  • Online exams are scored immediately by the Proctor.  The student will know whether s/he has passed or failed before the session is completed.
